Water Data Without the Disruption.

Project: XXX
Technology: Quandify Water Grip
Scope: Non-invasive flow monitoring during project due diligence
Partner: Vaughan Cooper, Decarbonised Energy Solutions Ltd

Understanding how buildings use water is a critical step when designing modern, low-carbon heating systems. For projects converting traditional gas or diesel boiler systems to high-efficiency heat pump solutions, accurate consumption data helps determine system design, performance expectations, and project feasibility.

But gathering that data in existing buildings isn’t always straightforward.

The Challenge

Traditional water metering often requires cutting into pipework and installing permanent meters with electronic monitoring equipment, a process that can be disruptive, time-consuming, and costly, particularly when the goal is simply to collect baseline data during the early stages of project design.

Conventional ultrasonic systems can also present challenges in real-world conditions, often requiring careful configuration and producing inconsistent readings depending on pipe materials and installation conditions.

For Decarbonised Energy Solutions, the need was simple: obtain reliable consumption data quickly, without intrusive installation work or disruption to the existing building systems.

Practical Data, Instantly

Through the mobile app, water consumption can be viewed clearly across hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly timeframes, making it easy to identify usage patterns and anomalies.

During on-site inspections, the system also provides live consumption data via Bluetooth, giving engineers immediate insight while assessing system performance or investigating usage behaviour.

The Outcome

For Decarbonised Energy Solutions, Water Grip has become a valuable tool during the project due-diligence phase, enabling:

  • Fast installation without modifying existing pipework

  • Reliable water consumption data across a range of pipe sizes

  • Clear usage insights for feasibility studies and system design

  • Reduced time, cost, and disruption during early-stage project assessments

“The Water Grip has proven to be a practical and efficient tool for quickly obtaining reliable consumption data without intrusive installation work. It allows us to gather the information we need during the due-diligence phase of projects with minimal disruption to existing systems, saving both time and cost.”
